OK parents, let’s see if you can figure this out.
Here are two images of ordinary objects in our house.? One is a garbage can on top of the kitchen counter.? The other is a kid-sized picnic table on top of a porch table.
This is the way we keep these two items every day.? Can you guess why?
If your kids are anything like mine they are something akin to racoons. They love to play in the trash. So you elevated the trash can to thwart their efforts but kids are resourceful and they used the picnic table to climb up to get to the elevated trash can. Hence, the elevated picnic table.
What did I win?
You have a problem with rodents. So you elevate the trash can.
But you also want to cultivate the kids to throw trash in their rightful place.
So to train them, they have to first pass the test of being able to climb the chairs up to the porch table up to the picnic table.
If they can do that, you know you can trust them to be able to throw trash in the elevated trash can safely without falling off the kitchen countertop.
Ed beat me. I concur with what he said.
Close…but not completely there yet :)
They like to dig in the trash and use the picnic table for a stage to sing on?
First off, they like to play in the trash can. That explains the can on the counter. The picnic table is on the porch table to stop them from climbing up it (presumably climbing up to the trash can).
Were any of the Things eating stuff out of the trash can? Is that the missing piece?
