Thing 4 is getting close to crawling.? She is almost 8 months in this video.? Thing 1 likes to point out that he was crawling at 7.5 months, so she’s doing “pretty good for a girl”.? I’m not really sure he said anything like that, but it would have been funny if he had.? Technically speaking backwards is still crawling so I guess she has matched him.? Go Thing 4!

Winter 2009 Performances
It’s a time honored tradition. Each class in the school puts on a winter show. The kids rehearse for weeks and all the parents come to watch. Here are the highlights from this year.
In case you can’t pick out the Things, here are some clues. Thing 1 is strategically positioned between the two girls and loving it. Thing 2 is the kid who jumps up and waves “Daddy!” when he walks into the room. And Thing 3, well, you won’t miss him. He is the center of attention as always.
Thanksgiving Football
In the spirit of Thanksgiving football, here is a recent game of pillow football between Thing 1 and Thing 2. The game is played by charging your opponent with a pillow and attempting to knock them down. It isn’t very complicated. Usually the game ends when someone gets hurt and cries.
While the game is going on, Thing 3 plays his own game of try to touch the video camera.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Halloween Tradition
If two times establishes a tradition, then we have a new Halloween tradition. Plenty of people go to pumpkin patches, carve jack-o-lanterns, and decorate the house for Halloween.
Thing 2 started his tradition last year of handing out candy with no pants on. Well, this year it happened again. We didn’t plan it. Didn’t ask for it. But, whoomp there it is!
Of course, I was close by with the video camera so you can see for yourself.
Sports Junkie
I wouldn’t call myself a fanatic, but I like sports. My interest has actually lessened in the last 6 years mainly because I don’t have the opportunity to watch many games on TV. During the day our television is taken over by Toy Story, The Backyardigans, and Tom and Jerry. And I can’t stay awake to watch the games at night.
All that is changing. Thing 1 has reached an age where he is getting into sports, particularly football. “Getting into” is a bad description. He is a fanatic. I suppose I may be fueling it a little myself. Maybe out of selfish motives so I can start watching sports during the day again. But I didn’t quite expect this. See for yourself in this video.
Two Year Old Swimmer
Thing 3 loves water.? He likes to drink it, spill it, pour it, splash it, bubble it, and throw it.? He is really fascinated by water.? He would run his hands under the faucet all day if he could.
And, this weekend, we found out this kid is also a natural when it comes to swimming.? He is utterly fearless in the pool, which is both good and bad.? I’m happy he isn’t afraid but a little fear is actually a good thing.? It is what prevents him from running headfirst into a body of water.
At just two years old, Thing 3 has managed to figure out all by himself how to hold his breath and float on his belly.? Sure, he swallowed some water a few times.? But he just came up laughing and wanted to do it again.
This kid loves water.
Boys Weekend
Last weekend was a boys weekend.? SuburbanMommy went to NYC for the weekend to attend soon-to-be-SuburbanAunt’s bridal shower and bachelorette party.
Surprisingly, the weekend wasn’t too bad.? It was much, much better than the weekends in the winter when I was home alone.? Mainly because we can do things outside.? The Things have way too much energy to be contained indoors.
I shot some video of our weekend.? As you can see, water, spray bottles, a sprinkler, and popsicles are all we needed.
Rub a dub dub
Rub a dub dub three men in a tub.? We don’t do this often due to the mess it creates.? But SuburbanMommy was feeling inspired this particular evening.
